Discover THEALINGUA®: an innovative method for teaching foreign languages that skillfully combines the power of theatre and linguistics. Since 2010, our passionate team has been working in a wide range of settings—from schools to universities and educational institutions. Each year, we carry out around one hundred language projects in schools, during international exchanges, or as part of professional training programs.

Our work focuses on theatrical techniques such as body and movement awareness on stage, collective creation, emotional expression, and carefully crafted performances. Our proven methods include theatre, multilingual improvisation, mime, and non-violent communication.

Whether you want to become a Thealinguiste or set up a project within your organization, language class, or elsewhere, we are here to support you on your linguistic journey.

Don’t miss the chance to explore our activities on the Thealingua website and contact us to organize a project or workshop in your educational setting.

The Thealingua Method is an innovative approach to foreign language teaching and learning. Positioned at the crossroads of active teaching methods and recent contributions from cognitive and educational sciences, the method is designed to train actors, educators, and language teachers.

This training provides three main areas of competence:

  • Knowledge: a theoretical framework applied to Theatre and Language exercises

  • Skills: how to design specific environments for language learning and teaching

  • Attitudes: developing self-awareness and understanding of one’s role in the learning process

The training is typically conducted in both French and German.

Katharina Hagemann is a language teacher for German, French, and Spanish, as well as a theatre pedagogue. She is currently involved in an extracurricular project focused on language development for refugee children, while also leading workshops for Thealingua. Since 2019, she has co-led the training in the Thealingua method alongside Damien Poinsard. In addition, she organizes reading and storytelling workshops for children. Katharina currently lives in Spain, where she offers Thealingua workshops in Spanish and continues to train other educators in the methodology.
Damien brings over 30 years of experience as a theatre pedagogue, director, and actor, sharing his passion and expertise with both children and adults through an innovative approach. As the founder of Thealingua—a unique method that combines theatre techniques with language learning—he supports learners in developing their self-confidence and oral expression. As the director of Cours et Jardins, he offers workshops that link personal development with creative learning, using theatre as a tool for social and personal transformation.
