ARTIVISTS ON STAGE – A new European cooperation project

📣 ARTIVISTS ON STAGE is officially starting!

Cours et Jardins is very happy to announce the launch of ARTIVISTS ON STAGE, a new European cooperation project supported by Erasmus+, running from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2028.

The project brings together three partner organisations working with young people through theatre, non-formal education and cultural youth work:

  • Cours et Jardins – Germany

  • Compagnie L’Instant Même – France

  • La Fenice APS – Italy

Theatre as a space for expression and civic participation

ARTIVISTS ON STAGE explores how theatre can become a powerful tool for young people’s expression, democratic participation and civic engagement.

Across the three partner organisations, theatre is already used as an accessible, creative and collective tool that enables young people to express themselves, engage with social issues and take an active role in their communities.

The project will allow us to go further by strengthening the way these artistic and civic processes are supported by facilitators, artists and youth professionals.

Learning and developing our practices together

Over the next 18 months, the three organisations will share their experiences, methods and challenges through a process of transnational peer learning.

Together, we will work on key areas including:

  • democratic participation and civic engagement;

  • inclusion and diversity;

  • group dynamics and facilitation approaches;

  • ethical responsibility;

  • artistic expression and public visibility;

  • supporting young people from diverse backgrounds, including those with fewer opportunities.

One of the main outcomes of the project will be the development of a shared, practice-based accompaniment framework, bringing together pedagogical principles, facilitation tools, the key stages of theatre-based civic engagement processes and shared ethical reference points.

The aim is to strengthen the professional skills of our teams while creating safer, more inclusive and more responsible spaces where young people can express themselves and participate collectively.

First stop: Berlin

The project will begin with a five-day kick-off meeting and first study visit in Berlin, planned for November 2026.

This first gathering will give the partners the opportunity to get to know one another, discover each other’s practices, meet local initiatives and lay the foundations for the work that will continue throughout the project.

Supported by Erasmus+

🙏 We would like to express our sincere thanks to Erasmus+ for supporting ARTIVISTS ON STAGE and making this European cooperation possible.

This support gives us the opportunity to learn from one another across borders, strengthen the quality of our work with young people and develop new approaches at the intersection of theatre, creativity, participation and democracy.

Theatre. Youth. Democracy.

We will regularly share updates on this website about the next stages of the project, partner meetings, study visits and activities developed as part of ARTIVISTS ON STAGE.

A project supported by Erasmus+ and the OFAJ, Artivists, CAP2TRANSITION targeted young people aged 18 to 30 to help them develop local artistic projects around the themes of transition in 2024.

Based on the concept of community, the supported projects aim to raise awareness of issues related to transition and to seek solutions based on collective intelligence, citizen engagement, and the sharing of experiences.
